A Feather in His Cap
Mixed Media on Arches Cover Paper
14" x 14"
(framed dimensions)
SOLD

This cowboy's hat has the feel of many a hard day's work. I guess the cowboy does, too, for that matter! But the hat was the reason I chose to work from this reference photo of mine. The feather was an added bonus for painting.  I must say I enjoyed every second of my time at the easel with this one.

Such a great job on this. Your replication of the hat is spot on. So much character. I like the texture of the hat played against the textured background.

Your enjoyment shows in each piece, Kath. The leather of the hat is perfectly rendered, so worn in, weathered.I love the subtle blueish-greens throughout and the way the light catches the edges of his hat, collar and nose.

Kathy, I can tell you enjoyed painting this piece. It's rendered with a loving hand. I really enjoy your backgrounds. I like the repetitive patterns you work into your compositions.
